Castle Rock Penny Saved
DOB 2/05/10
1xRGCH Jr., 1xGCH Jr.

Sire: Castle Rock Bentley *S
(Rosasharn TL Sitka Spruce *S x ARMCH Lost Valley TB Infinity 4*D)
Dam: SGCH CRF Castle Rock Penny Wise 3*D
(CRF Castle Rock Guy Noir +S x Castle Rock Money Penny 2*D)

"PJ" (that's for Penny Jr.) endeared herself to me by continually climbing in my lap, snuggling down, and contentedly chewing her cud after letting out a big sigh any time I went into the kid stall this spring. No matter how many other bottle babies were throwing themselves at me, or trying to crawl on top of her, she knew where she wanted to be, and she wasn't moving for anything. Structurally, she starts out wide in the muzzle, deep in the jaw, and carries that width and depth throughout without being course or losing dairy character. She has very nice spring of rib, with thin dairy skin, flat bone, and smooth blending.

Castle Rock Roufus Treepie
DOB 2/06/11

Sire: CRF Castle Rock Mr. Lincoln
(Woodhaven Farms Latigo +S x TX TwinCreeks WDF Sunsprite)
Dam: CRF Castle Rock Magpie

(Rosasharn's TL Sitka Spruce *S x MCH-PGCH Cloverdale YJ Blue Raven)

A doe befitting her name (it is a type of corvid, which is a very smart class of birds), Treepie is one smart kid. She is long bodied and angular with good angularity.

Castle Rock Moon Stone
DOB 2/06/11

Sire: Castle Rock Tanzanite *S
(CRF Castle Rock Guy Noir +S x CH Algedi Farm H Purple Rain 4*D)
Dam: CH CRF Castle Rock Moon River
(Rosasharn's TL Sitka Spruce *S x CH-MCH Castle Rock Once Ina Blue Moon 2*D'VG')

I didn't even have to really look at this kid before deciding to retain her, especially considering how nicely her dam freshened this year- she was on a list of potential kids I was considering retaining. With over 40 does freshening here this year, I had to make a list to stick to, or I'd end up retaining way too many kids. However, if you do take a look at her, you'll find she's a long bodied, with a wide rump, flat bone, and good sweep of rib.

Castle Rock Sunsilk
DOB 2/06/11 polled

Sire: Copper Penny ROF Calico Jack
(Twin Creeks FAX Ring of Fire x MCH Ponders End MB Nevis)
Dam: CH-MCH CRF Castle Rock Tuscan Sun
(Woodhaven Farms Latigo +S x TX Twin Creeks WDF Sunsprite)

Sunsilk is a long bodied doe who has gained a pretty decent amount of body capacity since we took this picture of her at about a month old. She definitely has those slightly longer eyes we typically find in polled goats, but at least they made it easier to tell her from the many, many other buckskin kids running around this spring.

Castle Rock Mt. Whitney
DOB 2/12/11
1x GCH Jr, 1x RGCH Jr

Sire: CRF Castle Rock Harvest Moon *S
(Rosasharn TL Sitka Spruce *S x MCH-CH Castle Rock Once Ina Blue Moon 2*D )
Dam: CRF Castle Rock Lassen

(SG Fairlea Barnaby Rudge x Castle Rock Shasta *D *M)

Whitney was one of those doe kids I wasn't originally planning on keeping, but was just so eye catching that I ended up making room for her. I love her profile and smoothness of blending, along with her flatness of bone. If she were any more refined, she'd look almost frail (hard to tell with that baby fluff), but she has enough dairy character to float to the top of her class. She has both the general appearance and friendly personality we've come to expect from her sire.

Castle Rock Helen of Troy
DOB 2/12/11

Sire: CRF Castle Rock Harvest Moon *S
(Rosasharn TL Sitka Spruce *S x MCH-CH Castle Rock Once Ina Blue Moon 2*D )
Dam: CRF Castle Rock Siren Song

(Dragonfly Odysseus x ARMCH Castle Rock Sky Lupine 2*D)

Another daughter of Harvey with smoothness of blending, a level topline, and angularity. She has short strong pasterns and depth of heel, straight front legs and good brisquet extension.

Castle Rock Gorgonzola
DOB 2/23/11

Sire: CRF Castle Rock Harvest Moon *S
(Rosasharn TL Sitka Spruce *S x MCH-CH Castle Rock Once Ina Blue Moon 2*D )
Dam: CRF Castle Rock Mouzza *D
(Buttin'Heads Sharp No.2 Pencil x Shooting Star Feta)

Zola is the product of a repeat breeding from last year that produced two gorgeous bucks, and I am very happy about the results of this cross once more. She's the kid this year that I have to check visitor's pockets for when they leave- everyone wants to take her home. She's well put together, and often looks like she's posing for someone to take her picture when she's just standing around.

Castle Rock Raspberry Beret
DOB 03/05/11

Sire: CRF Castle Rock Mr. Lincoln
(Woodhaven Farms Latigo +S x TX TwinCreeks WDF Sunsprite)
Dam: CH Algedi Farm H Purple Rain 4*D VVEE 90
(Rosasharn's UMT Hamachi *B x CH Rosasharn's TL Zenith 3*D EEVE

Raspberry combines many very strong features- a wide, flat rump, good spring of rib, strong general appearance, and angularity. Her dam produced 1260 pounds of milk as a second freshener, and earned herself a spot on the Top 10 List for one day milk test. I'm very excited to finally have a doe out of Purple Rain!

Castle Rock Heart Burn
DOB 3/02/11

Sire: CH Algedi Farm Drops of Jupiter *S EEE 91
(Rosasharn's UMT Hamachi *S x CH Rosasharn's TL Zenith 3*D EEVE 90)
Dam: ARMCH-CH Algedi Farm S Honey Heart 5*D
(Kaapio Acre's KK Sultan *S x CH Rosasharn's UMT Tupelo Honey 4*D VVEE)

What can I say about this little beauty? It took two trips to Oregon to get her dam bred, and when she finally made an appearance, it was at 2am after one of the longest days I'd had in a month that was full of very long days. Obviously, I am quite hopeful that she'll turn out to have been worth all that trouble! She's long and dairy, with good spring of rib and thin pliable skin, and levels out nicely while on the move.
