CRF Castle Rock Black Ice
DOB 4/17/08

Sire: CRF Castle Rock Guy Noir
(Twin Creeks BW Montego Bay +*S x MCH/PGCH Cloverdale YJ Blue Raven)
)
Dam: CRF Castle Rock Blizzard 3*D
(Lost Valley KW Stetson *S x Castle Rock SnowFluryCeanothus 2*D)

An unassuming doe kid who has spent most of her time just hanging out at the farm. Finally, last fall, I decided to take her to her first show, and oh! the! drama! to just get her to walk out of the field. I was having second thoughts about show time, and wouldn't you know it- she walked into the ring and acted like showing was her favorite thing in the world, and ended up going reserve. I do believe we have a diva on our hands!

CRF Castle Rock Arroyo Willow
DOB 5/10/8

Sire: Fairlea Barnaby Rudge *S
(Rosasharns Julius *S x ARMCH Fairlea Gretchen 2*D E)
Dam: CRF Castle Rock Arroyo Lupine 3*D
(Rosasharn HB Mithrandir *S x ARMCH Castle Rock Sky Lupine 2*D)

Willow is your typical end-of-the-kidding-season spoiled bottle baby, believing that she should always be either on my lap or under my feet. She really is quite eye catching on the move, and has such a sense of herself that she talks back when I tell her "no". She is a small refined doe with nice blending, angularity, and very good width between the hocks.

CRF Castle Rock Siren Song
DOB 3/19/09

Sire: Dragonfly Odyseuss *S
(Rosasharns TL 'Ugene *S x ARMCH Dragonfly Calliope *D E)
Dam: ARMCH Castle Rock Sky Lupine 2*D
(Twin Creeks Rebel W/O A Cause *S x ARMCH/CH/PGCH Esperanza WS Sara *D)

Siren, much like her sisters Lia and Lupe, spent much of her first outting in the show ring making strong attempts at bipedalism. I'm somewhat surprised that she still managed to win a reserve grand! She has improved dairy character over her dam, a nice front end assembly, a high escutcheon and good feet.

CRF Castle Rock Sun Saphire
DOB 2/16/09
1x GCH Jr, 2xRGCHJr.

Sire: CRF Castle Rock Cobalt
(CRF Castle Rock Guy Noir x MCH-CH Castle Rock Once Ina Blue Moon 2*D)
Dam: TX Twin Creeks WDF Sunsprite
(MCH-CH Pecan Hollow Willy's Dance Fever *S x MCH-CH Goodwood Good Day Sunshine E)

Our first kid of the 2009 kidding season was this lovely polled blue eyed doe kid, and as I was drying her off, I said to Andy "this one is definitely mine!" I guess she heard me, because even though she was dam-raised she runs to me like a bottle baby. She's long and level on the move, has a very elegant neck, lots of space between the ribs, and has the potential to have an outstanding udder when she freshens. Upon clipping her baby coat off, I've been pleasantly surprised at how many traits from her paternal granddam she seems to have, especially those short high pasterns, and square front feet.

CRF Castle Rock Moon River
DOB 3/28/09
2xGCH, 1xRGCH

Sire: Rosasharn's TL Sitka Spruce *S
(ARMCH Rosasharn's Tiger L ++*S x ARMCH Rosasharn's UMT Sassafrass 5*D)
Dam: CH-MCH Castle Rock Once Ina Blue Moon 2*D
(PGCH The Promises Pay It Forward x Copper Penny Misty Blue *D AR 1963)

River, littermate sister of our buck, Harvest Moon, reminds me so much of her dam in both look and personality. She does show more angularity at this age than her dam did, but other wise, is very similar in build, being small, well put together, and having more dairy character than you would expect just from looking at her. I'll be over the moon (ha! name pun!) if she freshens as nicely as her mother did. I'll also be thrilled if I can ever get her to stay still for pictures.

CRF Castle Rock Coral Bell
DOB 4/3/09

Sire: Rosasharn TL Sitka Spruce *S
(ARMCH Rosasharn's Tiger L ++*S E x ARMCH Rosasharn's UMT Sassafras 5*D E)
Dam: CRF Castle Rock Alum Root 3*D
(Twin Creeks BW Montego Bay +*S x Castle Rock SnowFlurryCeanothus 2*D AR 1988)

Cora is a very long dairy doe with a very elegant look to her. She's incredibly sweet until you try to make her walk somewhere.

CRF Castle Rock Magpie
DOB 4/25/09

Sire: Rosasharn TL Sitka Spruce *S
(ARMCH Rosasharn's Tiger L ++*S E x ARMCH Rosasharn's UMT Sassafras 5*D E)
Dam: MCH Cloverdale YJ Blue Raven
(PromisedLand CP Yellow Jacket *S x Pecan Hollow Bonnie Blue'VG')

Finally, a doe kid from Raven! As you can see, she is nice and level while on the move, and when you put your hands on her, you can feel lots of dairy character. Magie is definitely a slow to mature kid, which does allow her to get away with still curling up in my lap every now and then.

CRF Castle Rock Sweet Heart
DOB 2/06/10

Sire: CRF Castle Rock Harvest Moon *S
(Rosasharn TL Sitka Spruce *S x MCH-CH Castle Rock Once Ina Blue Moon 2*D )
Dam: ARMCH-CH Algedi Farm S Honey Heart 5*D
(Kaapio Acre's KK Sultan *S x CH Rosasharn's UMT Tupelo Honey 4*D VVEE)

The beginning of the 2010 kidding season started out very buck-heavy, and I had decided that I'd have to sell Honey Heart's doe kid to fill some reservations. But the longer I looked at this kid, the more I came to realize that I couldn't let her go- she was just too nice to pass up. In addition to that little heart outline on her side, she has very flat bone, and in person you can see that really flat wide rump and the high thurls we are trying to make more common in the Nigerian gene pool.

CRF Castle Rock Karmann Ghia
DOB 2/05/10

Sire: Rosasharn TL Sitka Spruce *S
(ARMCH Rosasharn's Tiger L ++*S E x ARMCH Rosasharn's UMT Sassafras 5*D E)
Dam: ARMCH Lost Valley TB Infinity 4*D
(MCH Lost Valley Tae-Bo *S x MCH Lost Valley Mercedes 3*D)

This doe is the product of a repeat breeding from last year that I liked so much, I had to do it again. Karmann has a nice level topline, smoothness of blending and angularity with a very feminine face.

CRF Castle Rock Saranade
DOB 2/10/10

Sire: Twin Creeks BW Montego Bay +*S
(MCH Twin Creeks BH Bay Watch ++*S 'E' x MCH Gay-Mor's JJU Nonpareil 3*D 'E')
Dam: ARMCH/CH/PGCH Esperanza WS Sara *D'VG'
(MCH/PGCH Ponders End MTB Wall Street x Esperanza ZZ Sedona Snowstorm)

This little lady is almost the spitting image of her dam, and very much the fiesty personality. With the loss of Sara due to a complicated kidding, this kid and her sister (below) will have very large hoof prints to fill.

CRF Castle Rock Sarafina
DOB 2/10/10

Sire: Twin Creeks BW Montego Bay +*S
(MCH Twin Creeks BH Bay Watch ++*S 'E' x MCH Gay-Mor's JJU Nonpareil 3*D 'E')
Dam: ARMCH/CH/PGCH Esperanza WS Sara *D'VG'
(MCH/PGCH Ponders End MTB Wall Street x Esperanza ZZ Sedona Snowstorm)

Sarafina reminds me so much of her big sister, CRF Castle Rock Lullaby who resides in the Sly Farms herd. Much more cuddly than her sister Saranade, Sarafina seems to have gotten the quiet dignity of her dam, and so far is my favorite kid of 2010.

CRF Castle Rock Velvet Lupine
DOB 2/10/10

Sire: CRF Castle Rock Mr. Lincoln
(Woodhaven Farms Latigo x TX TwinCreeks WDF Sunsprite)
Dam: CRF Castle Rock Arroyo Lupine 3*D
(Rosasharn HB Mithranidir *S x ARMCH Castle Rock Sky Lupine 2*D)

Because all of my favorite does this year have been buckskin- here's another one! It took a few days for me to realize that I kept staring at this doe in the kid pen. When I got the opportunity to sit for a little while and put my hands on her, it became clear that not only is she eye catching, she also has a tight front end assembly, flat bone, good spring of rib, and dairy character.

CRF Castle Rock Ghost Pine
DOB 2/27/10

Sire: Rosasharn TL Sitka Spruce *S
(ARMCH Rosasharn's Tiger L ++*S E x ARMCH Rosasharn's UMT Sassafras 5*D E)
Dam: ARMCH Castle Rock Sky Lupine 2*D
(Twin Creeks BW Rebel w/o a Cause *S x ARMCH/CH/PGCH Esperanza WS Sara *D'VG')

Boo is a member of our second set of sextuplets to be born on our farm, and another kid I decided to keep before she was even completely dry. She is very well put together with good angularity, width between the hocks, and a very wide level rump. I don't know if you can tell it in this picture, but she puts all of the hair along her spine up while she is drinking- not usually a big deal, but it does make her topline look less flat than it is.

CRF Castle Rock Roweena
DOB 3/01/10

Sire: Rosasharn TL Sitka Spruce *S
(ARMCH Rosasharn's Tiger L ++*S E x ARMCH Rosasharn's UMT Sassafras 5*D E)
Dam: Castle Rock Roxanne
(CRF Castle Rock Guy Noir x Castle Rock Annabelle)

Roweena is long, uphill, smoothly blended with great general appearance, and there is just something about her that I find very appealing.

CRF Castle Rock Annika
DOB 3/01/10

Sire: Rosasharn TL Sitka Spruce *S
(ARMCH Rosasharn's Tiger L ++*S E x ARMCH Rosasharn's UMT Sassafras 5*D E)
Dam: Castle Rock Roxanne
(CRF Castle Rock Guy Noir x Castle Rock Annabelle)

I know that this looks like a very exagerated pose- but it is exactly how she stands when she drinks. Apparently she wants to make sure we don't miss how upstanding she is at the withers, and did you notice her angularity? Just as noticable as her structure are the wheels turning in her head- she is clearly always thinking, always noticing what is going on around her.

CRF Castle Rock Busy Bee
DOB 3/01/10

Sire: CRF Castle Rock Mr. Lincoln
(Woodhaven Farms Latigo x TX TwinCreeks WDF Sunsprite)
Dam: CRF Castle Rock Honey Bee
(Lost Valley KW Stetson *S x Algedi Farm S Honey Heart 5*D AR 1980)

Could it be!? A non-buckskin 2010 kid? Busy Bee is a repeat of a breeding which produced another black and white doe kid who (as a judge recently put it) is simply stunning. Busy Bee has a nice front end assembly, length of body, angularity and space between the ribs.

CRF Castle Rock Lightning Bug
DOB 3/25/10

Sire: Dragonfly Odyseuss *S
(Rosasharns TL 'Ugene *S x ARMCH Dragonfly Calliope *D E)
Dam: CRF Castle Rock Tesla
(Woodhaven Farms Latigo x ARMCH Lost Valley TB Infinity 4*D)

Bug has very nice general appearance, is naturally upstanding at the withers, and has the quiet, sweet attitude of her dam.
